A history of vision and innovation in trade channel promotion and revenue growth management

Rob Hand is the founder and chief executive officer of Hand Promotion Management. After eleven years in the largest and most notable of co-operative advertising and channel market outsource service companies, Rob joined three Texas Instruments executives and formed MEDIANET, to pioneer the automation of modern trade promotion, co-op advertising and channel incentive marketing globally. Bringing new levels of innovation to promotion management, execution and analytics, MEDIANET became one of the most successful outsource promotion management vendors in the world, crossing industries ranging from consumer goods, to apparel, to high technology, consumer electronics, automotive aftermarket and financial services. It also established new innovative management technology for frequency marketing programs like airline frequent flyer and banking programs.

In 1995, Rob founded the highly successful Hand Consulting Group, Inc., which provided deep industry domain expertise to create new program formats, built trade promotion management and execution solutions and reengineer trade promotion and co-op fund management processes worldwide. Many of those systems and processes are in full operation today at many consumer products companies.  After selling HCG to San Jose-based Callidus Software, Rob worked within Callidus’ variable sales compensation management solution to create a trade promotion management system that helped to create an end-to-end incentive management solution from corporate sales, through the channel to the end consumer.

Hand Promotion Management was originally founded in 2002 and provided domain expertise across more than 20  different industries and spawned more than a dozen industry-leading educational and training programs for trade promotion, retail execution and revenue growth management.

Rob’s background spans more than four decades of domain expertise across all lines of business and more than 25 industries.  Focused on consumer products and retail, Rob has not only built his own successful companies, but also worked with industry leaders like SAP, Oracle and Capgemini, leading the innovation around consumer engagement marketing, trade promotion, retail execution, category and brand marketing for hundreds of global tier one manufacturers and retailers.  As a product innovator, he has created leading edge trade promotion, demand planning, and retail execution solutions across all database and operational software platforms including on premise, cloud and mobile technologies. His work with advanced analytics and data science technology underpins a strong track of success with performance analytics, insight generation and increased promotion spending ROI.

In 2020, Rob reprised the HPM practice and is now one of the more popular Podcasters, Bloggers and speakers on the topics of TPx, Revenue Growth Management and business process innovation. He is working on his first book to be published in late 2021. Rob is a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Trade Promotion Management Association Hall of Fame.  He is a long-time musician and an avid sailor.  He and his family live in the Texas Hill Country outside of Austin, Texas.
